Book Review (Band of Brothers)


The book Band Of Brothers was a very interesting book following the men on the 101st airborne division through their trials in WWII. The story starts out with the men in their training in America fresh out of boot camp and learning to become a Para-trooper. The story comes then to when they are getting ready to be sent to war. The men are scared but eager to fight. The reason these men were so glorified is because of all their problems they encountered during their time in battle. Especially their time in Normandy Where this book is taken place.

The men of the 101st jump into hostile Germany a day before the troops land on the beaches of Normandy. From there almost anything that can go wrong, goes wrong. The men are split up, supplies were dropped in the wrong place and to top all of it the Germans still want to kill them all. Once all the men have re-grouped and are armed and ready for battle the whole land invasion has started and Operation Overlord is well on its way. Later in the story and after many battles the men are hardened and in the middle of this whole war.

As the story progresses some of our favorite characters die off and the surviving men are starting to get sick and tired of this war. Then their main battle, the one that could turn the tide of the war happens. The battle of the budge happens when all the torn down men are cold in a forest with make shift shelters and ill-prepared. Soon enough the Germans start their attack and push back the Americans. With the men of the 101st battered and beaten they decide to start to kick some serious German ass. In which they do and push back the Germans.

With the victory of the battle of the budge it basically defeats the Germans winning the war for the Americans. The importance of this book was very present. These men of the 101st battled extreme things to just survive the war and this book only scrapes the top of how heroic and brave these men were. This book to me was very touching because it showed me the trial and tribulations that the men back then had to go through to fight for their country and how glorious of a war it was back then.
