She flew through her training with merit. Soon she was dropped into France and assigned the mission to determine how much resistance was in place. She established communication to underground leaders and British Intelligence. She was arrested twice during her ordeal but was able to talk her way out of trouble. Violette was a well educated woman who was an officer in the french army.
On her second mission she was dropped behind enemy lines again to find intelligence on the landings coming up on D-Day. Szabo and her college Liewer were driving in a car when some SS officers came into sight, they opened fire and a small gun fight broke out. Her and he friends sped away but she later broke her ankle and ran out of ammo so she couldn't continue the fight. She was captured on June 10, 1944. Szabo was transferred from a German SS unit to a SD unit. For four days she went by the name of "Vicky Taylor"she was then brought from a prison in Paris to the Gestapo headquarters.
Violette was taken from place to place by train not knowing if she was being sent somewhere good or being sent to her ultimate death. But on February 5, 1945 she was executed by an SS officer in the presence of a SS commander who sentenced her to her death. She was killed at age 23 but her legacy and stories have carried on for generation. Violette was arguably one of the best spies during WWII, her quick thinking and fearlessness made her a great spy and great woman.
